Open Country manufacture three ranges of retail products – organic powdered milk products Awarua Organics, and two ice cream brands, Deep South and Motureka Creamery.

AwaRua Organics

2018 was an exciting year for Open Country; we launched our brand AwaRua Organics after a two-year conversion process of a group of Southland farms and our Awarua processing plant to become ‘certified organic’.

Consumers in New Zealand, Australia and China love our range of premium organic milk powders, sold under the AwaRua Organics brand for their luxuriously creamy taste. Since 2021, this range of powdered milk products includes products that are made from organic A2 protein milk.

Award-Winning Ice Cream

Our ice cream producers have been crafting quality ice cream from the best ingredients New Zealand has to offer and delivering it to the world for over three decades. Both of our ice cream brands – Deep South and Motueka Creamery – are regular award winners.

Deep South

Originating from New Zealand’s South Island, the Deep South brand has been a long-standing, trusted choice among New Zealanders since 1978. Today, they still use some of the same traditional recipes that have gotten the Kiwi ‘lick of approval’ for years.

Motueka Creamery

Known for its locally inspired flavours, Motueka Creamery brings a taste of the Tasman region to the rest of the country and beyond. Inspired by the essence of New Zealand, from the feeling of a fresh snow on Mount Arthur to the waves breaking on Kaiteriteri beach, this premium ice cream is crafted with real milk and cream, real fruit and flavours.
